Surfing!!

On Saturday me, Kathleen and Denis went to surfing! It was so exhausting…. But fun! After 30 min I was already super tired and we were only in the half way of the lesson… I couldn’t yet stand up on the board but I got to my knees. Before Saturday I had to buy the shorts and the t-shirt for the surfing… super expensive.. We will have five lessons and I hope in the end of the course I am actually able to stand on the board.
I spent the whole Sunday on the beach and finally got some colour that can be noticed by other people too! JEIJ!

There was shark attack on the island of Reunion on monday... 15 years old girl who was swimming just in the shore was killed. That makes me little bit scared of surfing.... but it was in Reunion not here..

During this week I have people playing Gwoka, which is traditional Guadeloupean music and some reggae band. Cool cool…

Yesterday it was the first time the rain caught me and I was soaking wet… everybody stared at me at the market...

At work I have been writing business letters in French.. difficult, but at least I feel like I am learning! The event which I am mainly responsible for is coming together slowly but surely..

I have been invited to spend the weekend of Marie Galante and Capesterre next weekend… I am probably going to Capesterre since I haven’t spend much time in Basse Terre and I wanna explore that side of the island….. and I don’t have to miss my surf lesson.
Our original plan was to go to this concert on next Saturday evening but we don’t have any guy who could go with us,because Denis is going to St.Maarten, so Kathleen don’t’ wanna go just with girls. I understand her, she wants to be careful and there is nothing wrong with that. But I hope we can manage to go out at least once all together.

I visited Kathleen's place today and we had lunch with her family, I understood all the topics we were discussing! Jeij! Before the lunch me and Kathleen went to this beach near to her place. The beach is in the area which is guarded so we had to take a long route through bushes, but when we returned from the beach we went trough the gate and I was acting I don't speak any French so the guard left us alone. Acting that you don't understand the language that the other person speaks work every time!

Working...

On Tuesday I went to shopping for Surfing clothes with Kathleen. Wau they are super expensive.. I bought pink shorts, but I don't know what to do with the shirt... I try to borrow one from someone.

On Wednesday my boss sent me to the market to take picture of this woman who was talking about the health benefits of the herbs and etc.

I talked with this man who was selling organic products and he told me he have been visiting Helsinki 10 years ago. Cool.. He was working in Disneyland Paris and met finnish guy over there.

And Today we went to the beach during our lunch hours..

And this my house

Weekend Again....

On Friday I went beach with Chris. He is one guy I met in the BBQ party where my neighbor took me. After beach we went to buy food from this cool food truck in Moule!
When it comes to my French speaking, it is better, since Chris doesn’t speak English that much, so I need to explain myself only in French to him.
Chris gave me this CD full of riddims.

On Saturday I went to buy new shoes because my old ones are literally falling into pieces. I found these cool sandals and ballerinas for 30€, not bad! Chris came to get his stuff he forget at my place after worked with his motorcycle. He promes to give me ride someday. In the afternoon I went to beach and grabbed baguette from bakery where we usually buy our food when we are working. The woman working there is super nice! They didn’t have baguette I like so she made me tuna one!
And for the first time some white guy honked and whistled at me when he drove past me…
I bought these ugliest sun glasses.. I broke my previous one surprise surprise… but these ones were cheap 8€.

Sunday was boring. There was this party at Ste Anne but I couldn’t get anyone to come with me…. I asked all of my workmates, my neighbor and Chris, but no one had time… and the weather sucked too so couldn’t go to the beach either.. so I cooked the whole day… Pasta and crepes. At least now I have food for the rest of the week!

But I saw
this carnival group practicing near my flat so that was cool.
I saw this weirdest music video on ETV…. There was Asian guy singing Zouk.. it was so confusing…  And saw Mohombis music video too.. but people here aren’t heard about Kim Ceasarion…

In ETV there is two different advertisements going on against domestic violence. I asked my workmate if it is common here that men hit their women and children. She said yes that it is pretty common. Last week one man killed his whole family and himself. I guess they have same problem here as we have in Finland too...

Weekend

The event on Friday wasn’t success.. Only few people showed up… I think it is because we don’t do enough advertising. But I had fun anyway with my work mates! We danced, ate and drank. Gregory is so funny because he can’t dance to normal music, he dances like Finnish guys, but when he is dancing zouk he is good :D it is so weird.

On Saturday I went to beach and on Sunday I stayed in and cleaned the house. This is my first weekend when I am solely staying Moule the whole weekend. I was bit bored, but next weekend I maybe rent a bike, go shopping in Pointe à Pitre or try to get some surfing lessons.

Vanessa, Melica, Greory and Sandra finish their internship today.. It is gona be boring without them at work. I gona miss them! We are planning on going to beach together after the gas station strikes ends.

On Friday my boss saved a little cat and brought it to the agency. Gregory named it Tropic. My boss washed it and feeded it. Tropic was so scared the whole time! My boss will take Tropic to her friend who takes care of animals who are left unattended.

It is irritating that you never know when small food stands are open. There is this small bokit shop near to my house but I have seen it open only once. I went to check it Sunday evening but no.. it was closed.. and I really don’t wanna leave further away to look for food in the evenings.. I don’t feel safe alone.

New girl started her internship with us today! Her name is Prisca. She lives in Moule too!!! Jeij!!! I hope we can hang out sometimes!

And here some dancing Gwada style :D Gregory can't really keep up... :P

Korvapuusteja, bdays and strikes

I found all the ingredients for the korvapuusti (cinnamonroll)! It was hard to find cardamon but from the market i did! It was another miracle that I was able to succeed with my bakery since it was first time I was using gas oven and I didn't have rolling pin but the korvapuusti came out pretty nice... I bought baking soda instead of yeast but it still came out nice...  I brought them at work ans everybody liked them! Jeij! I gave one for my neighbour too and he liked it too!

Last night my neighbour took me to his cousin birthday party in Moule. It was interesting, I danced with one guy for one minute and then everybody just pulling my arms and asking me to dance with them.. bit intimidating.. the rest of the night I just stayed next my neighbour..

Now the strike of the gas station is finally began... and of course the prime minister is visiting the island at the same time so everything to do with cars in f*cked up.... I don't know how we gona arrange the party tomorrow if we don't have a gas and is anyone gona even show up... We'll see..

I miss my friends a lot!!!!!!!!!! buuhuuuu!! I just wanna have someone who understand me, so that the normal conversation won't take an hour....

One thing which irritates me here a lot is that people here don't let u know if the plans are changed or they not coming or something happend... Not even at work... For me it is super weird and I find it really impolite.

But yeah some pictures!!

First Picture: Korvapuustit! Yeah they look ugly I know! But they taste right!

Second Picture: Cardamon that is how it looks like! It takes surprisingly long time to unpeel those..

Third Picture: Quenette... Love those.. Kind a like lychee.

Food, water and weird people...

First of all I was just told that there is no water until thursday..... It is really nice to know 4 hours before they cut the water.... and I washed my hair last time on sunday...

The other happier thing is that I was buying ingredients for Korvapuusti (kind a cinnamonrolls) yesterday and I found everything but cardamom! I gona try to find that today from this bigger grocery shop.

Sandra has disappeared.. she hasn't been coming to work for two days now.. nobody knows where is she...

I just read from one add that we have dengue epidemic in Gwada.. jeij..

Today we have got the weirdest customers coming here and calling.. One guy came here and started to yell that he wants his money back from one event we didn't organize after all and he got the ticket for it.. but we didn't sell the ticket to him.. he bought it from another association. Another guy called and asked about the event on friday and wanted to know if there is a guarantee that he gets a girl if he pays 35.... ööö no! Weird people....

First Picture: Kathleen working hard!

Second Picture: Vanessa made that at work...Cool eh

Juhannus

After all I got nice party for Juhannus. I have forgot we had our agency’s birthday on Friday and we threw a party! There was slam artist, some guy who was playing trumpet, and good music and food. We had bartenders and such.  I didn’t know what was slam artist before but he is kind a like poet, but in French people’s mind it is not the same… Unfortunately Kathleen and Denis left pretty early, but I stayed with Melica and Gregory until 23.00. It was funny too see my boss dancing with everyone and being so excited!

On Saturday my neighbor took me to this bbq party at the beach near Sainte-Anne. The party was full of guys and I was the only girl… but fortunately one other woman came bit later. The guys were old army friends so you can imagine the topics of discussion. But they were really cool and I had nice time eating good food, drinking despe and swimming. It is still so irritating because I can’t understand the jokes in French, someone always have to explain me…. It was so funny to see how much pictures these guys take… they are like finnish girls taking pictures and videos all the time for the FB. It was super irritating try to eat when someone is taking pics all the time…
In the evening we went to this other party near St. Francois with my neighbor. It was zouklove party.. plaaaah…. Well we danced little bit and drank despe…. We left after while and met two other his friends and asked if they know were would be a party with better music.. but everybody were in fullmoon party. The entrance fee was 20e for the fullmoon party and it was already late when we realized that it was the night for that party… so we didn’t go.. maybe next month… Finally we just decided to go home.
On Sunday I went to the nearest beach I have here. There was beachsoccer competition going on so there was music playing and a lot of people. But after laying in sun for 1 hour it started to rain like crazy and I decided to leave.

Here in Moule there is actually happening a lot during this month, a lot of different competitions and happenings, it is cool!

First Picture: Despe it is!

Second Picture: Mac of our dj in the bday party. Cool..

Third Picture: Iguana at the beach.

Fourth Picture: It is time to find the husband!... or not.. flyer for the event we are organising on friday
